Fleeced In Seattle

Yeah, that’s a “look, don’t buy” place. Great fun people watching, though, and the few times I’ve been there, there were buskers who were actually worth listening to for a spell, too.

Of all the bad things to deal with in Seattle, some overpriced seafood is probably one of the better ones.

Last time I was at the Pike Place Market, summer of '19 IIRC, I was able to witness junkies, homeless camps, needles, and surface sh*tters...all in one afternoon! If there was a Seattle bingo card I bet I woulda won. I'd be curious to see if it has improved at all, but not enough to go back.

The tent cities under the interstates were not there last time I flew into Seattle. That was spring of 2024.

It's pretty sad but a great example of what can happen. Portland is the same. When i was younger it was a gret trip to go over to Seattle did it a lot in high school. Now I don't even want to think about going there. Last time i was there maybe 4 years ago you had to keep corssing back and forth on street to avoid people having mentalbreakdowns or on some kind of high, pass an ally and it smelled like piss and garbage, and people sleeping in evey doorway. Sadly its only been the last 15yrs or so that it really go this way.

was pike and the waterfront better than like the stadium district. It normally was a little better at least and the prices have always been higher. But when you have a 20 dollar minimum wage you have to make money.

Goddamn. I'm landlocked in Alberta, 1000kms from the coast (615 miles for you Yanks) and King crab is $40/lb. Can get a sablefish for $30 if you know where to look. That is crazy.
