Despite popular belief it's okay to keep a few fish now and then. Personally I can't stand to eat trout so 95% of them go right back in the water. However, I do have a family in town that really loves to eat trout. Their dad is a fire fighter and works hard to provide for his family. However he rarely has time to fish. So every now and then I drop off a few fish for them and they really seem to enjoy it. The discoloration on the fish is because I threw them into my ice chest seconds after catching them and as they die the ice discolors them. Doesn't make for real purty pics, but y'all get the idea. The smallest fish in the photo measured 18" long, and the longest is 23".

I enjoy some trout for dinner now and then. When it comes to cleaning, preparing, cooking and eating them I prefer trout with a little more size to them .................... like all the fish you catch. In view of your trout threads, I'm really feeling inferior as a fisherman. Please tell me that once in awhile you catch small trout???

fishing4sanity, oh yeah, plenty. Here's a few from last summer. What they lack in size they make up for in stunning beauty, IMHO.

I'm with you on the eating of trout. Not my favorite. That said, finglerling brookies I had that were getting then fried made for pretty darn good eats. Head, tail, and all... :D

Sometimes in the summer we camp near a pretty good trout stream. My son and I enjoy getting up early and fishing. We save a fish or two for campfire breakfast when we get back to camp. It's about the only way I enjoy trout. I do however remember my grandma frying up floured trout in bacon grease. Seems like that crispy salty fried skin was pretty good.
