Finn from the Cascades, Season 5

Always love the Finn Chronicles. After seeing you guys in action together, I can appreciate just what an incredible dog he is. I’m really looking forward to seeing how he handles things when I strap an elk quarter to his back in November.

I judged three days at a test in Boise last week. I watched some really good dogs work, but when I got home I realized how much I appreciate Finn. Watching him work today was fun.

If the backstrap falls out of his pannier he might eat it

Sorry to have missed you and Finn when you were down in my neck of the woods last weekend. Hoping that we might be able to put together a hunt this chukar season. I am sure Rudy would be up for it.
We’d love that.

I believe so.
Happened in my area last year for quail. Too much rain at just the wrong times. The pairs I did see with any chicks were few and far between, lucky if they had a few. Conditions were perfect this year however and with plenty of feed out there, we had 2 successful hatches spring and summer and I'm regularly flushing coveys on my way into town again this year. Hoping the same for your area and that they bounce back quickly!

Mechanic work went without a hitch yesterday. I plowed through a bunch of projects, so Finn took me hunting today.

Too warm for chukars so we went after blues/duskies instead. We found a cool spot (figuratively) but the morning turned out pretty toasty.

Finn put up a rock star point on a covey. Crappy angle and couldn’t really get a great shot. Shoulda taken a photo of him on point and the grouse head sticking up 30 feet away.

Union break.

Finn was cooked by noon so I got home in time to get a coat of paint on my shed and have a beer.

I'm a REAL big fan of the looks of that pup
Same. Nice withers, flat croup, strong neck and muzzle. He’s a touch bigger than Finn.

The Jura Grund kennel has turns out some amazing drahts over the years. It’ll be exciting to see what this litter can do.

The breeder and I have beer riding on test scores. He’s keeping a female as well.

Today was a poem of scenery and futility. We hunted high, we hunted off the top and into the basins.

We saw one mule deer doe, which was one more than the total number of birds we saw today. On to tomorrow…77BEDA0F-7F78-4CA8-B95E-8DC1977DCBF5.jpeg0F153729-7BA0-4ED5-91FC-FDD4A142C2B8.jpeg42732A12-7897-4E3D-8125-BE702B253D4E.jpegDD880944-4B2B-4C2D-AAC2-7BE99619282D.jpeg910FB39F-23AD-4330-BDE4-1D7233D749AC.jpeg98F5275B-D5B0-4091-A391-BB64B2631F5B.jpegFEBA25E1-CB45-4E79-B14F-68938699DDFA.jpeg9D646198-B7C6-426D-AB83-97B8559270EF.jpeg3404A1A2-2115-431D-B5F8-66A7ACBAF2A5.jpeg5BCBA97F-35F9-4755-A9E5-3BF5E6F3F7AA.jpeg
