Finally some good news

Just say you like crossbows
I actually do the vertical ones though you know compound bows thats most of what I have owned. I have a recurve for fun to shoot with my kids also. Never have owned a normall crossbow

If anyone can't see what is going to happen they are blind and the next thing to be attacked will be compound bows in one way or another. Look at what utah is currently proposing

So does that mean the other 60 percent were taken by compound bow hunters

My guess is if you take out the compound bow harvest this would also be the case as with most things people with a agenda can make there data look how they want.

Excited to see what happens over the next couple years when they same thing happens and arizona starts to restrict the compound hunters it will likely be a different discussion.
I’m having a hard time thinking of any crossbow seasons that were impacted by compounds. Compounds were considered legal weaponry for this season but crossbows were allowed by a doctor. This comment misses this fact imo

Who shoots this well with a compound bow? 3 inches at 100 yards? A really good compound bow/archer can manage 10" consistently that far.

And one of those i bet most users can do the first day they own it vs the 1000th.
I can shoot a rifle 600 yards with better accuracy then that so can my kids there first day they started shooting rifles. A Crossbow is not even remotely close to the capabilities of a rifle compare one to the other is a dumb argument.

You are assuming that anyone that buys that crossbow is going to be able to hold that group size which likely won't be the case. No different then a rifle manufacturer saying 1 inch group at 100 yards it's advertising it's all about the hands it's in

Exactly my point nothing will happen with compound regs due to the fact many would cry. Even though compounds have a similar effect on harvest

Why not break up the data? didnt want to show that compounds had 59 percent of the harvest and recurve and longbows accounted for less then 1 percent And that crossbows at 40 percent are the problem?
It’s obvious your bias is affecting your comprehension skills. AZ has defined archery equipment as a hand drawn/held bow and arrow and not a shouldered weapon system. Crossbows do not meet that criteria…….just as shotguns, handguns and flintlocks do not. Fairly simple and straightforward, IMO. There’s still a place for them….it just won’t be in the archery only season(s).

I'm all for all of it to go to recurve/longbow. But what do you feel is further apart recurve to compound or compound to crossbow?
There is a greater advantage of going from a recurve to compound. Verse going from a compound to crossbow.

But it’s still not archery.
Neither is a compound bow then

Compound restrictions are coming across the west just a matter of time. idaho has a technology committe currently looking at stuff. Utah is proposing traditional only archery units.

Yes, it is. It’s hand drawn, held at full draw by the archer, and released. A crossbow is not. Fact
It's hand drawn with a substantial let-off with sights you can dial out to 100 yards and a trigger to realease the arrow its not much different then a cross bow.

If i am not mistaken there are plenty of crossbows that are hand drawn with a draw string

If you truly cannot see the difference, then there’s no reasoning with you. You’re exactly what the commissioners were referring to…….I believe one of them referred to your type as ‘Karens’. 😉

Honestly, I would wager you do know the difference and skill set needed to master a real bow and arrow deep down…..you simply let your personal bias interfere with your objective reasoning skills to voice that…..and that’s okay.

You should continue to hunt with a crossbow, as I believe there’s a place for them. It just won’t be in the archery only seasons in Arizona unless you are permanently disabled and have a CHAMP permit.

A readied weapon where i can easily manipulate a call and dont need to consider drawing/holding is a world different than a bow with extra mechanical advantage.

Im all for carving out a traditional only season. But conflating a crossbow to a compound bow is nuts.

Id take that ravin with a scope over a .30-30 with open sights or a muzzleloader.

All the guys carrying crossbows I have run across didnt have the crossbow drawn I asked one guy about it and he said he only had it drawn and ready on a set up.

Seams more Inconvient to me I dont know how many times I have been hiking stopped let out a call and a bull was close I can simply knock and arrow and keep moving in with a compound get a range dial my spot hogg sight and shoot in much less time then messing with a crossbow so to me a compound is just as much a advantage depending on the situation

I would take. A 30 30 or a muzzeloader over that ravin archery equipment any day 200 yards easy with a open sight muzzeloader or 30 30

That's funny i have never owned crossbow and have done well with compound bow I am certainly not to worried about that
