Finally got hit for a LE Elk tag in Utah

Congrats! Have you hunted on this unit before?
I have not. I do have a friend and his family members that were all successful harvesting 3 great bulls on the rifle hunt last year, and am going to use his info as a starting point going into the scouting season. I would be more than receptive to any points in the right direction, and would be happy to share what I learn to others with later hunts.

Sounds like your friend knows where to go! I have hunted this unit a lot and this year I have a muzzleloader deer tag and I will probably chase cows/spikes around with my bow. If my scouting turns up any nice bulls I'll be happy to share pictures and locations with you. Did this a couple years ago with I guy I met on the archery hunt and I had a lot of fun being his scout, I also have horses so if you get one down in a real hell hole I can help with the pack out. Just stay in touch!

Appreciate it man. And vice versa if I catch in nice bucks on trail cams.

Congrats on the tag! I was there few years ago for spike hunt and saw few big herds. one of the better units in the state, good luck

Hey hope your scouting has been going good! My trail cams haven't turned up much other that a few smaller bulls and lots of cows and spikes however I found couple nice bulls as I was creeping into my tree stand this weekend while I was hunting for a spike. They were bedded down about 150 yards from my stand and I was able to get within 50 yards of them. I did my best to get some pictures of them through my binos but they are not the greatest and it was hard to get a full view of them through the trees. The bull in the velvet is a six point but he's the smallest, maybe 300" at best. The bull that I got a couple different angles of is possibly in the 330-350" range (I'm not the best at judging elk even when I can see the entire rack) The one that is just a picture of one side of the antler is the biggest, I think probably over 350". There were two other bulls with them that I never really could tell what they were, but if any of these interest you let me know!
