Watched this sea island buck grow up. Walked into the same field 63 days after the phone-scope photo was taken and killed him where he stood.

I make venison stew quite often at my office (Instapot). Here is my simple recipe.
Deer Stew (as we Island people call it):
- 3 pounds of 95/5 venison burger (95% venison, 5% beef tallow)
- 4-6 slices bacon (flavor and fat)
- Water with some salt and pepper
Pressure cook above for 40 minutes
Chop a bunch of veggies
- 2 large Russet potatoes
- 3 celery stalks
- Cup of baby carrots
- 2 cups sliced mini portobello mushrooms
- Large red onion
- 3 cloves of fresh chopped garlic
Add to pot contents and pressure cook everything for about 10 more minutes.
I used to add a lot of spices, but after making many variations of this stew (at least 30 times), I just use salt and pepper, plus sometimes small amounts of ginger, red pepper, and paprika mixed in various proportions.
