I took Friday off as the weather looked pretty good for pics. Unfortunately, that didn't end up being the case. Sage-grouse were there, but the light wasn't. Here are a couple shots of them leaving the lek around 9am.

This morning I changed species and the light helped me out.

Even though you werent happy with the light, you have great detail. What model of camera are you using?

Great shots as always. Even with the bad lighting, those flying sage grouse look very cool.

It looks like you are right on top of them. What zoom are you using? How close are you? Very cool.

Thanks all. Nikon D7000 w/ sigma 120-300 1.4 TC. A couple were very curious and came within 15 feet. So close I couldn't get them in the frame @ 120.I have had them land on the blind before, but not yesterday.

Very nice! Missing out on getting to see this spring ritual, like I used to, puts me in a bad mood for a few days. Thanks... ;)

Fantastic photos, thank you. I like chickens. I've had male ptarmigan so curious that they'd fly across the tundra to me from more than a quarter mile away, rooster-crowing in flight. Then they'd strut around and cluck just a few feet away.

Who's in my territory?
