Seventeen snowmobilers were arrested last weekend for out of bounds snowmobiling in closed areas of Yellowstone National Park. Beginning on Friday, National Park rangers joined forces with Targhee National Forest Service rangers to patrol the western boundary of the park for illegal snowmobiling there. At the same time, patroling rangers stopped dozens of other snowmobilers at Yellowstone's boundary and prevented them from illegally entering the park. Those people arrested had entered Yellowstone in a remote section of the park along the western boundary, some passing directly next to florescent orange boundary markers and signs clearly identifying the park boundary. All of the offenders were issued citations that require mandatory appearances in front of the U.S. Magistrate and could face stiff fines for the violations. Yellowstone welcomes guided snowmobile and snow coach trips every day from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm in designated areas of the park, but park visitors are reminded that the use of oversnow vehicles off designated routes is strictly prohibited.

I've sledded in that area. The Park boundry is clearly marked. They need to to respect the rules. Plenty of areas to sled without going in the Park. Assclowns are just shooting themselves in the foot as well as those who recreate legally. Good job with the enforcement.

just goes to show ya, ther are still those select few that try to scew it up for everyone. glad they were caught

" ther are still those select few that try to scew it up for everyone."

" At the same time, patroling rangers stopped dozens of other snowmobilers at Yellowstone's boundary and prevented them from illegally entering the park. "

Sounds like more than just a "select few". How long do you suppose that's been going on? If they don't mind breaking the law to enter the Park, how do you suppose they are about all the other laws on littering, harrassing wildlife, etc.?

Sounds like the snowmobilers have the same mentality as the fat assed ATV crowd----complete disregard for the law.

Sounds like more than just a "select few".Proof? How long do you suppose that's been going on? Probably for some time, unless the inforcement guys just got wind of it happening. If they don't mind breaking the law to enter the Park, how do you suppose they are about all the other laws on littering, harrassing wildlife, etc.? Do you have any proof, or are you just flappin' your gums again?

I don't know IT. How many "dozens" did they stop at the park boundary? Of those, how many had the intent to enter the park before they were stopped? Of those that were stopped outside the park, how many were going up to the boundary? Doesn't sound too illegal to ride up to the boundary? How many were caught/seen littering? How many were caught/seen chasing wildlife? How many snowmobilers are following the rules in the park?

TB- As a group, I have found snowmobilers to be a lot better than atv riders. A lot of snowmobile riders promote safe and legal uses of snowmobiles. There are still a lot of the "atv mentality" types in the snowmobiling world that gives the group a bad name. The difference is (as a group) snowmobilers promote legal uses of their transportation. I would say (but have no proof) that some of these same individuals drive their atvs behind closed gates and probably poach deer and elk.

MATT, here, many of the same people are the ATV & snowmobile crowd many belong to both clubs. You coming to breakfast in the morning?

Ten, Thanks for the stupid questions. Don't expect me to get suckered into your little game.
Don't worry IT, none of us expect you to respond to any of the questions. You don't have the ability.

Yup, I do, but I know you ask most of your stupid question and make most of your stupid comments in hopes somebody will waste a lot of their time answering. That's always been most of your game. Other times you just can't help yourself.

Matt
What I have seen in my travels into the back country, the only reason quite a few of these people don't get busted, is because the tracks they make are gone when the snow dissapears.
I have seen snow tracks in quite a few places they didn't belong, but I am also guessing these are the same people that are sitting on motorized vehicles in restricted areas no matter what the season.
They just don't seem to think any thing pertains to them, no matter what they are sitting on.

Face it IT, you lack the ability to make a knowledgable response. Your only response would be unfounded, and full of emotional bias.

...and also full of fact...dont forget the facts.

Ten beers, how you could be brow-beating anyone for a lack of knowledge is laughable, if not outright hysterical.

Keep thinking you're full of knowledge...because most people have a pretty good idea what you're really full of...

Ten beers,

When you post some facts or something intelligent, I'll give you the proper credit.

Until then, see my last post.

hm wow u guys got good readings there i think yes few can screw it up for rest they need to be careful what if like ozzy osborne my fav tv show he got in bad wreck oops thats was atv sorry anyway it can happen i see u guys argue none of my business but I try to keep outta it i do no good prob get myself talkin chit i dont know nothin about :D

BUZZ, if I had the facts in the matter, I wouldn't be asking those that act like they know everything questions now, would I. As it is, someone was spouting off, and I asked him to provide some facts and foundation. If you guys are offended by that, too bad.
