Public lands
Republican senators and representatives in our neighboring states of Nevada, Oregon and Washington have supported congressional bills in the past four years to designate desert and forest federal public lands as wilderness.
They understood there is overwhelming public support for areas on public lands where families can still go and experience intact landscapes, abundant wildlife and wild rivers.
Sen. Mike Crapo needs to make sure that the current negotiations over the management of our magnificent Owyhee Canyonlands and rivers include significant areas that will be protected as wilderness. This will help to benefit deer, bighorn sheep, trout and sage grouse populations in Southwest Idaho.
