To say this Fall has been crazy would be an understatement!!

My wife and I had been scouting hard in July and August for my ND archery deer tag and her MT rifle deer tag. Lots of beautiful country covered with a great woman

Sometimes you need to cool off after a hot day of scouting!

September started with a potential job offer for my wife in Alaska. After two phone interviews, they flew us to Anchorage for three days the first week of September. She aced an eight hour interview and landed a MONSTER job! Holy smokes the dream had finally come true!! We had a ton of work to do before we left the first week of November to drive to AK.

Crazy what they charge to crate and ship mounts so I crated my own and found a much more reasonable way to get them to AK!

During the packing process both my daughter and son had youth deer tags. My daughter wrapped hers up in the first 45 minutes of hunting and put this doe down with one shot at 135 yards.

My son was not quite so fortunate. The bucks would not cooperate, but he killed two coyotes and some ducks so that helped.

Between the packing up the house, working with two different moving companies on the move, trying to sell a house, renting a house in AK, resigning positions in Bismarck, selling a consulting business, and me looking for a new job in AK...I managed to squeeze in two days to try to fill my 2014 Archery tag in the Badlands. Things came together on the second morning and I was able to arrow a dandy 28" buck at 12 yards. I was a bit excited as usual. While packing the buck back to the truck, it really hit me how much I will miss hunting mulies in the Badlands of ND. It has been my passion for the last 10 years. I don't plan on going too long before getting after them again with Grizzly!

Unfortunately, time did not allow us to hunt in MT for Kathy's deer and we had to turn the tag back in. The consolation prize is we are planning a caribou hunt above the Artic Circle in the near future to make it up to her as soon as we get residency.

The drive to AK was incredible for 3000 miles. I would do it again in a minute. The scenery got better around every turn.

There is no way we could be more excited to be here and take advantage of the ultimate hunting and fishing paradise. Grizzly and Upper Deck are already padding their respective hunting funds to come up and get in on the action.

It took an incredible amount of effort this Fall to make everything work, but it was definitely the right move for us. We have a lot to learn and new equipment to purchase in order to take advantage of the opportunities here. We are looking forward to it all. Have a great Holiday Season!!

Good for you and your family, i will be looking forward to updates from you of your adventures up there. Keep sharing pics too!

Very busy fall. Congrats on the move and also finding time to get you and the kids out. Nice pictures, too!

Good to hear from you and see that you had a successful fall.

Charter messed up my TV, so I found myself watching an old DVD of you and Fin last night. It got me to wondering where you had been.

Best of luck in your new state.

Awesome change of Life! I really wish you the best in the move. Can you send me a 8x10 of the water tank photo...and could you crop out the guy with the beer! LOL You make sure to check in more often! John

Talk about tasking on multiple levels! Grats to you and your family. Happy holidays!

Buschy, thanks for sharing your great pictures and adventure to Alaska. Good luck , I've been to Anchorage once to see my son come home from Iraq, what an interesting and beautiful area.

Congrats on the job and move! I'm jealous! We're considering the same thing. What did you end up doing with your mounts? That's one of my worries for the ones I have. We're headed back up for our third trip next May to fish and look for a place to retire to. It sure is beautiful up there!

Living the life. Congrats on the move. Looking forward to seeing your AK posts in the future. Don't forget about us.

Awesome scenery and photos, and a lot going on. Congratulations to your wife and her new job.
I know I'm getting old when I see a pretty woman in an awesome pool, appearing to only be wearing a hat, and my first thought was..."nice mulie shed"

Wonder how many will scroll back up and look?:D
