I am looking at picking up a couple of boxes of nosler partition protected point bullets for a 300 wsm. My understanding is that the ppt is developed to adapt to magnum recoil for the lead point but does anyone have experience with the bullet and does the ppt meaningfully change terminal performance?

it’s a good bullet. My dad took a bull elk with the 180 in his 300 WBY a number of years back. Only needed one shot and it did the job like any other partition.

Davey Crocket took one with one shot 200 yrs ago and it was a round ball!

About 25 yrs ago I killed a mule deer buck at 350 yd with a 180 pp partition out of a 300 Win. It was a pass through and he dropped instantly.
