Colorado hunting camp owner illegally brought exotic sheep to ranch for clients to hunt

A 34-year-old Dinosaur ranch owner illegally imported several exotic sheep species for his clients to hunt, including Mouflon sheep hybrids, Texas Dall sheep and Painted Desert sheep, which are all prohibited in Colorado, state wildlife officials said.

The quote from the article above is interesting in light of the FY2017 game damage report from CPW which lists an approved claim of $2,000 for a bighorn sheep killing a "TX Dall Ram." It sure is a topsy-turvy world we live in.

To be clear, the game damage claim was not to the same person that was convicted of possession. I'm not sure of the disposition of the sheep in Dinosaur.

Would one read the following regulation to mean that once a "grandfathered" animal dies, that's it? Or would one read it to mean that you can breed grandfathered animals in perpetuity?

Seems pretty cut and dried, if it dies you're done. I don't know a ton about sheep longevity but given "1990" I can't imagine that there is any legal dall sheep alive in CO, per this regulation.
