I'm going to be calling it home for at least the next few years. We'll be relocating just before Christmas.

Do we have any locals around here?

I know a couple of good guys in the area. I live about 5 hours south but will be up there in November hunting and seem to be up there hunting or fishing every year. Its a beautiful area, Lamoille Canyon in the fall when the colors change is amazing and its great really any time of year. Good fishing in the area as well, lots of road work going on heading south out of Elko. However if you get to put in as a local before next year you can get an Archery Deer tag for the area with about 100% chance of drawing it.

I like Elko. NV has some premium big game hunting, along with crazy good upland and waterfowling. You're at the front door of snow @#)(# mountaineering. Fishing is excellent.

Thanks guys. It's definitely a move in the right direction for us. I've got 4 years of NV points built up but have never seriously researched the state. In looking at my points they say "NR" before the animal, hopefully they'll remain with me as a resident.

We're looking forward to the change and opportunities.

You will be able to apply as a resident next year. 4 points should put you in the drivers seat for a pretty good deer tag...do you have housing arrangements lined up yet??
