Elk size pictures

Ok so because I'm trying to be a better community member here's a few references I would consider in the 270ish to 300ish range.

What’s amazing to me is as long a you guys are anywhere near correct I would have thought your elk bigger so that makes me happy. Im sure I’ll find a good bull that I will just know I want and won’t even second guess it.

One of these yrs I will have the right tag at the right time, but damn, it sure has been fun chasing them with my bow. Just looking at at these pics brings a big smile to my face.

Looks like slippery Anne bulls in the first 3

No sir. The first two pics are the same bull. Then two pics of another bull. Those are actually still shots from a video I was taking. It was raining/snowing and a member of our archery group had just arrowed one of the satellites as this big fella wasn’t having any part of it. His thirds were impressive. The last pic is from my 13 yd encounter last yr…my cow tasted pretty good though.

You could always shoot one like this and cut 90 inches off.View attachment 226999
Man I'd hate to be a guy that had a muzzleloader down there and was sitting on a pile of rocks but got up to early and walked the wrong way to look over an edge to try and find the bull on the last day. Only to go back to the rocks and find out they just walked by the rocks 5 minutes before you got back.

266-0/8 net P&Y. and 303-0/8 net. If they aren't officially measured, the hunter will exaggerate roughly 20-40 inches about 90% of the time and list "gross" score, and in the case above - well over 300" in exaggeration alone.

Nets are for fishermen my friend. If you truly cared about what went in the record book then more power to you

This thread was worth it if only for the fact that we now have evidence that @Greenhorn once wore facepaint. #keephammering

In the spirit of this thread, my buddy scored this one at 274 and change. He's not a professional scorer so you can add or subtract as you see fit.
Second choice tag for 3rd season. I was happy as a clam!

Unless you have a UT, AZ, NV Elk tag or some Beaucoup point CO or WY tag, your first elk should be the first legal bull in range. (within Reason)

don't get hung up on score please. Elk hunting is hard enough without adding that to the check list
I get cow tags. Much easier to fill that a bull tag and eat just as well!
