So, I had a vision while in AK of the Mounts I wanted. I came back, talked to my taxidermist and he sketched a couple idea's. After the Sketching and tweaking we had a game plan and he set out to get the mount I wanted.

It is a little hard to describe. I wanted 1 tiers of water, iceicles, Birds landing and well as sitting next to he bank. It is to be a corner pedistal mount. There is to be 6 ducks in all on this mount !!!

So.... he started the proccess. We got a pedistal that had a Granite type look to start adding the base to it. then the blue fam base was glues together and the craving started :

After the base was in some kind of shape, we figured out were the water was going to go. then how low the 2nd water piece was going to be.

After lookin at it, the mount wasn't going to be busy enough so a little more carving and adding of some additional rock :

Now, It was taking shape !!! it was time for the First coating of paint and "rocking" of the base :

We decided to ad 2 water falls on it, one on each side. If you look close enough you can see the grove were the water will be added in the future to flow down to the 2nd level.

OHHH sorry, thats a picture of what it looks like when the littlest boy Craps in the Bath water.... Sorry bout that.... Need to get some more pictures :D

We wanted it to look real... so there needed to be coral, pollips (SP?) and muscles:

There wasn't any fake looking items that looked real so Peston hand made each item by casting them and painting them :

Although the mount doesn't look like alot, I've seen the time put into it and it's moving along real good. It is going to be entered in the Western Regional Taxidermy contest here in June.

One of the Birds would be sitting under the rock ledge. Another up above it. here is the lower one's location :

Then Plant life needed to be added. The Water was lifted up and plantlife was placed under it. The rock crevices as well as other natural places :

So.. moving along.....

He couldn't find real looking Muscles either. So he bought real ones, Boiled them each out, cleaned them , repainted them, reclumped them and placed them on the base :

This next view shows the Future LEft water fall that will spill over the roack down ot the 2nd level. The iceicles and snow has been added to get the winter look going. 3 different types of colors of a silicone type stuff was used to make the mount look like some of the snow ha melted, some is still dripping, and some is frozen solid :

At any rate... a little more has been done but I need to get back and take a few more pictures. I've seen the process and it's fun to watch. He added all the barnicles, etc and then took them all off and repainted them a couple times. It's cool to see the time and perfection going into this creation. I would venture to say the hardest part on the base is over and now it's time to add the Harliquins and the Buffleheads !!!

That's pretty cool Moosie but I'm afraid I'd have to give up at least 5 years of hunting in order to pay for something like that. Would you mind saying how much you are paying for it?

Jose.. IDB is asking the same thing....

Washington Hunter, When I get a Bill I will let you know. I don't have any Idea yet.

So you don't know what the bill is, but do you know where the mount is going? Unless I've missed something, you haven't moved, the moosie clan is multiplying and the mounts are more prolific now than ever before. Time to move the kitchen table out...

Jose

Did we ever see pictures of this bear on HT? I don't remember.

no wonder he was asking for doantions to keep this site going this year....:D

should be pretty awesome when its finished.

LOL.. He's treated me right in the past. I did tell him not to charge me by the hour. Even at a Buck an Hour I couldn't afford it with the time he's put in.

TLC, I keep personal monies personal. Site money as site money. :D

Ovis.. I had a spot for it in my Old office. Since I've changed jobs and changed offices. I have no place to put it. I don't have any idea were it's going or how I'm paying for it :D :D

You should raise money to boot "Oompa Loompa" from HT. You could put the cash in the pot labeled "site money". I know, shame on me for mentioning the "Unspoken One" here.

Moosie,

That Harlequin is absolutely horrible.

And then some.........................

There was a picture of it laid across the back of my tailgate, with nose hanging off one side and back legs off the other side and Moosie posing in a yellow muscle-Tee shirt....

Mooosie may still have the picture, hopefully.

you gotta be happy with the progress.... Mount looks awesome!

.....the pic of "lil Micro O" clearing out the pool is priceless. LMAO

Moosie,

The form is horridly out of whack and preening isn't going to fix that. Birds are magnificently fluid and that thing looks like it was shot out of a mortar, into a brick wall.

Looks like a 1920's mount, chockfull of excelsior and wrapped by Helen Keller. You've a curious choice in "taxidermist",as most folks like their critters to look like critters.

A shame to botch beautiful specimens...............
