Update have hunted two more weekends and absolutely nothing. Just lots of deer hunters and none of them have seen elk. I am preset discouraged. I am hoping the snow and cold we have gotten stirs things up. The rest of November is super busy and it seems like even less ranchers are willing to let people on. I am hoping to make a big push in December and get one.

Don't give up! I have a friend who (many years ago) hunted a ton throughout most of the season not having seen a bull on property he could access. Then, Thanksgiving weekend he found a herd of elk and shot a 390" 6x6 on public land.

Theres lots of elk on public ground.. the snow just made it a lot easier for glassing and tracking. Its very cold and they will be in or darn close to a food source. Good grass or ag fields. What part of the unit have you been in? (Directions- N,S,E,W)

It actually isn’t that cold but I will most likely be in a non heated tent in my mummy bag

No born and raised in ND. It isn’t the hunting temps I am referring to. I will be camping in a 2 man non heated trekking pole tent in my mummy bag.

No. Have not seen much. My brother talked to a land owner who saw 108 elk go into the area I was hunting a few days after I was last there. So fingers crossed they are still in the area.

Made it happen on Saturday. I have hunted alone since September and this weekend my sister tagged along. We got it done thanks to a rancher who allowed me on after I spotted two bulls on his land last week. I called him to let him know I got one and he came out with his side by side and helped pack it out and gave us a ride back to the truck.

So was I. I was getting worried I may have to skip Christmas to hunt and take some non paid time off to make it happen.

This to me makes an Ice fishing setup seem that much more of a good expenditure
