Do Elk avoid grazing cattle?

They get along pretty well on our place. They tolerate each other but are not close buddies.

As stated before, if they want the same grass they'll act like cousins that don't like each other at a family picnic. Bulls stay away from the domestics more then the cows and calves. As long as a water source is nearby, the elk will tolerate them.

I've seen cow elk bedded down right next to cattle, just outside the Gila in NM.

That said, I still think in general that tend to avoid them when they can.

Blurry from elk licking the camera, but they literally mix in where I hunt.

I read this on Facebook: ‘Elk hate cows on public land and love them on private land’

saw 4 bulls and about 40 cow elk with a herd of cattle on public this year a few days together.
