It was getting dark....I tried to find the piece but no luck in the sage. I don't mind the added character.Glue him back together.
beauty buckMy son shot this one tonight. Haven’t put a tape to him but I think he will be his best buck so far.
Did check his inside spread and it was right at 17”.

That’s a beautiful buck
Wow! That is a heavy whitetail, and that is quite the wall of antlers. My ol lady got it done the other night. Her original plan was to go out and try and get us a doe for some freezer meat. She loves to hunt, but with her shift work, work schedule it makes it hard to make it out to the woods on the weekend with us. So her plan was to go out and get us some more meat for the freezer. Right closer to dark she had a nice doe come out and had her sights on her and was getting lined up for the shot. Just when she was getting ready to make the shot, this funky horned buck we just recently had on camera the week before stepped out. She looked over and saw a messed up rack and a big body and figured he would be a better choice than the doe lol. She moved her cross hairs over, lined him up and let if fly. Now to my surprise when she told me she shot a 3-point when i got there, i was a little bit worried. We manage our property really well and try to only shoot larger mature bucks. And she knows what a good buck is, she has killed a few in here hunting years that are really nice bucks. So needless to say when she told me that it caught me off guard.
After about 50 yards of tracking after the deer left the plot we found him piled up.... this is when i found out this deer was going to be well more than just what me and her could drag out of this bottom he ran to. Had to wait for my brother to make it over to us to help me drag this rascal out of that bottom lol. As you can see in the scale pictures he weighed well more than anything we have shot in years past at our camp. recent record for our place in Mississippi is 225lbs.
Needless to say she was pumped and we got more meat in the freezer! When i dropped him off at the processor, bone in he weighed in at 91lbs. And that is just both hind quarters, both front shoulders, backstraps, tenderloins, and the neck roast.
