I started using 1/16 tig welding electrode for decapping. It is really hard, and just take a side cutters and break off a chunk and round the end on a grinder and good to go. Cheaper too if you buy 4-6 rods at a time
Been handloading for 32 years now and I have never broken a decapping rod and if I ever do, the Redding die sets come with a spare. I do have a heavy duty manual type for 223,308 and 06 military brass.
I did notice that RCBS now has a deappping rod that has a head on it.
I only break them on Milsurp ammo. I have a ton of .223 from ADCOM and the primers are in with a really nast crimp, and then some of the flash holes are off center and that is what breaks the pins on mine.
