Looking to take my daughter on her first antelope hunt in 2020. We want to do a DIY type hunt, camp or maybe just cheap hotel kinda thing. Mostly just see plenty of antelope if she gets a shot at one all the better. Not looking for B&C ones just one she'll be happy with and make some good memories. I'm thinking WY but does anyone have any advice or certain units to focus on. Never hunted WY before only SD for antelope once and didn't really see that many on the land we were hunting

I'd say start reading back on the pronghorn forum, like a couple years worth. You will gain a ton of knowledge just from reading all the old threads, many of which start nearly the same as yours. I was in your exact shoes once also, took one daughter my first trip. We both shot antelope, took the other daughter 2 years later. They both still love it to this day. You will have a blast and see way more animals than you did in SD I bet.

This exactly. There is a ton of information in the pronghorn threads.

Have any points? If not, doe tags might be the way to go. They’re much cheaper and you can get a couple each.

I have one but she doesn't have any, doe tags would be fine with her. She brought me a list of hunts she wanted us to do together this fall. Antelope seemed to be the easiest. The rest were elk, moose, bear, sheep, wild boar, and buffalo. She said, "We better get started dad, your not getting any younger!"

So Jr High released the dates for fall break this year and that puts us right in line for opening weekend. That seems great but it’s a week earlier than usual. Think there will be too many people riding the roads and such. Is this doable or should we just take off later in the season? I just don’t want her first adventure out west to be a bust. Lol

Nah, opening weekend is a hoot. THere might be alot of people out, but there are also alot of antelope which = a target rich environment. Walk in a mile or two and you'll leave behind most of the crowd. My $0.02

Thanks for all the DMs, tips, and help offered along the way. All tags were filled, 3 bucks and a doe, and a lot of great memories made. She couldn’t be happier. She stalked to within 73 yds of her buck and made a quick kill then 247yds for her doe tag. She also tagged along with others in our group for their hunts. I think we’ve got a hunter here now!
