My Dad, at age 79 decided to burn his points for his 3rd Montana Shiras. He decided to apply for a cow tag, which at age 79 is probably a good idea, as buying green bananas can be risky.

We set up the wall tent near Wisdom, had a nice comfortable camp.

My brother came down Monday night to join us.

We saw quite a few moose, but all bulls for the first couple days

Went back this morning to a spot that looked promising. Found a dry cow and that was that. Was really fun to see some country I hadn't seen since I worked in Wisdom in 1992.

Dad's moose.

Sweet, awesome country in that area. Your dad looks like he is still in his prime for 79!

Got a friend with the bull moose tag in that same area. He’s been seeing a pile of bulls, just not the one yet. He sent me a photo of one he probably should have shot..
Congrats to your dad!

Good stuff @BuzzH. Thanks for sharing.

I'm enthralled by that old mining equipment. Crazy some of the places you find it and think of how they got it there. Montana has some neat history but I was blown away by Virginia City Nevada.

Looks like y’all had a great trip, thanks for sharing. Very cool your dad is still able to get out and hunt. Congrats!

Very cool! I love that country, I need to make the drive and hunt it one of these years. Did he use the old .300 win mag again?

Congrats! Nice to see that he’s still able to get it done at his age. What did he shoot her with?

Congrats to your Dad.
It's been 34 years since I drew a moose tag for Sage creek area, Gallatin Canyon.
Sure would be nice to hunt them one more time.
The pic of the Montana Iron Works with date is pretty darn cool.
