As the title suggests, efforts are underway to preserve native cutthroat trout using a strategy of stocking YY male brooktrout, which should lead to all male offspring, eventually eliminating the brookies from the area of the stockings. Game Creek in the upper Snake river is the site of this stocking/story.

They are doing this in parts of Nevada as well for Lahontan cutthroat trout.

That's cool! It cracks me up how we're all working to save brook trout in the northeast, from their invasive competition (and habitat issues), while folks in the west are trying to get rid of them to save their native fish...
