Csi

yeah I saw that Episode!!!

I didn’t have a problem when I watched this episode. I know it is Hollywood and this type of thing does not happen everyday. I an not familiar with Canned hunts, but when I hunt I don’t hunt for trophies, I will hunt for meat. It is just a preference of mine.

I am not a Avid Hunter, so I don’t know why you would be so upset by this…I know I am probably going to get attacked, but I would just like some Real Hunters opinion on why this episode was so disturbing….

It was about a Rich man paying a Zoo Keeper for access to killing this bear… It is possible and It may happen!

I'm upset because
A) They equate hi-fences with 'canned' hunts and
B) they suggest that hunters drug thier quarry as a matter of course

And WH, there is a world of difference between a hi-fence hunt on 60 acres and a hi-fence hunt on 60,000 acres

WHOC- I agree. Most hunters don't do this and they made that clear in the episode.

SRR- Are you saying this type of "hunt" is acceptable to you? It's a movie for crying out loud. One episode at that! If you don't like the show don't watch it, it won't hurt their ratings much (as they were the #1 show again last week.)

I missed that episode. But you know CSI shows everyday situations that occure, and there's no difference in showing the bear episode in my opinion.I may not like it for it just puts a damper on hunters (again) and I now see PETA over there getting there feather's in a bunch just gloating over that episode.
But in all reality we have poachers and unethical hunters everyday, every year doing something to gain the attention of PETA and other organizations.

Just last week we had our 1st reported bear mauling of the year. But it was not during a hunt so really there's a similartity minus the unethical way the bear was taken in the show.

No matilda, I'm not saying that- pull your head out before you post
And it's not a movie- it's a TV show
But to make it clear to even the most simple minded dolt- I don't like anything that puts hunting in a bad light. There are people out there who will view this as factual no matter what was "made clear in this episode""

Did you watch the show SRF....I never had that impression while watching that show & I watched it a couple times.... I know that hunters do not drug thier quarry's so I knew better. Anyhow who does drug animals deserves to be hunted themselves... My mind set was that there are always bad people who are going to break the law...

Also I am not real familar with canned hunts so I did not think twice about it...

All I am saying as a viewer, I dont take half the things on the show to seroiusly and I never once thought any negative thoughts about hunters... :p .

There will always be controversy in this world, which is why the show is rated #1....

SRR, I agree with you that the show makes hunting and people who hunt look bad in many people's eyes. But I have a hard time blaming CSI because it is true that there are lazy, rich, losers out there who will pay money to kill animals in conditions similar to what was seen on the show. And, people who don't know better will equate that type of "hunt" with true hunting. Hunting animals that are enclosed in a 60,000 acre fenced area is pretty much the same thing because it does guarantee the animals are somewhere within that fence. So I think until hunters get together and get any type of high-fence hunting outlawed, we have no right to complain when they show this kind of thing on the television.

While I have not yet made up my own mind how big an area needs to be to seperate a high fence hunt from a canned hunt, I do feel that we hunters do more to shut down the really bad operations than any government agency. Futhermore I have never heard of an operation that drugs the animals first. And the 60,000 acre was just a number that I picked out of the air.
