If the food and water is scarce, the elk will tolerate cattle. Feral horses are a different matter. Even the idiot cattle avoid the horses. IMO

The deer in my area won’t even tolerate cattle. However they don’t move far, and can be easier to find. I know where the elk and deer won’t be. Head to the next drainage with resources.

One mountain top I worked on(fire lookout) would see deer and cattle in a drainage then watch the elk move in and the deer and cattle would move out. This group of elk were total bullies. Seen bulls try to horn the cows all the time. It just wasn't a little one time thing. Was on that mountain for 11 years it happened all the time.

Randy said in a recent video that he has seen deer/elk tolerate cattle somewhat, and sheep not at all.

So would it be safe to say it depends on that particular elk or deer?
