Senate Bill 2633, proposed by Senator Conrad Burns of Montana, would grant rights to water users, right of ways up to, 120 feet to access each of the 17wilderness dams, inside the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness Area.
The Water Cooperative groups that own the dams helped shape the Bill.
It would also give them a 500' right of way around the lakes without compensation to the public. They would be allowed to use motorized equipment to reach the damns and do maintance bring in supplies ect.
The Bill would allow the damn owners the right to build a structure within the 500' of the lake, and they would'nt be held liable for activity that arises from the owners' negligence.
Their toting the Bill as a win win for Montana.
Just wondering what you sportsmen and woman think about this next attemp to privatize our heritage.:BLEEP:
