Colorado Vacation

Cripple Creek area is beautiful with lots of stuff to do around it. Also Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes State Park is well worth the trip!

If you're flying in, I'd strongly suggest flying into COS. Denver International is a perpetual Charlie Foxtrot. I once waited longer at the car rental desk there than I spent in the air.

Late September

Elk at the park by Estes.

Landscape, and happy hour tour around the state .

Hopscotch back and forth across the mountains.

Gun store at salida
Chama-pagosa-antonito

Moose between Walden, and the park.

Grand Mesa

Norwood hill

The canyon country between Narurita, and Dove Creek.

Sept goof off trips might be the pinnacle of life.

If you fly into Denver, A drive through RMNP will remind you why you don't go to national parks during peak season. But if it is on your way to somewhere else it's a nice check off....

My off the cuff loop...

Thanks for posting this loop.

My wife is planning to join me this year a week before my CO 3rd season hunt. How much of this recommended route would you change if the dates were Oct 30 to Nov 5?

That's a pretty good loop. I would only adjust it according to weather. Get the COTraveler App for current road conditions.

I-70 is already a circus and when there is snow and ice its best to be avoided.
