I have been fortunate to take both a bull and cow moose in Colorado. While ineligible for a bull, I have applied the last several years for a cow without drawing. I now have 3/3 points. I am a non-resident.
NEW for 2025 CO CPW shows split (late) rifle seasons for cow hunts in many of the units.
In the past I have looked at the prior year tag numbers, then applied. Can I assume that if there is a hunt code for non-residents there will be at least one tag?
Just got off the phone with CO CPW, and they were no help, saying tag numbers are not decided until May after the application deadline. The agent could not/would not answer the above question. The agent had no information on how the tags are split between early and late. She suggested the draw is all luck, which i argued is not quite true. Informed choices improve your chances to draw. That's why I am asking for help.
Any advice or insight from this group much appreciated.
