Colorado Bull Down

Who took that picture? He looks happy and bull looks good. I hope there are some better ones too though, with no tongue out and with his eyes open. Pretty cool though, that bull has some mass and some tine length to it, eh?

Way to go NHY! Congratulations! Looking forward to the story too!

congrats NHY. nice looking bull you got there. get to the story already.

Thanks guys...rolled in about 45 minutes ago. Sat., opening day, was a wierd one. High winds all day long, sleet, rain, and a sand storm. funny thing is, I saw over 30 cows, 6 spikes, a 4x (legal) with a huge body. Sunday broke to a blue sky, calm, and cold. I posted in a deadfall about 120 yards behind the field pic. Settled in before sunup but took about a 45 minute hike to warm the fingers & toes about 10:30, then returned. I had seen but a lone young cow all day when this bull came in left to right at 4:30 on the dot...stopped in front of the pond (@ 80 yards) & looked right at me. I was behind a downed tree which had a limb off the ground that I could sit behind with my legs under...perfect benchrest and profile breakup. He never saw me. He looked away and I brought the rifle up. The 180 Barnes TSX hit him just behind the right shoulder...he was hit hard but started walking away (uphill) quartered slightly giving me the left side...put another in the same spot on the opposite side. Recovered both bullets just under the hide on each side....lungs were cole slaw.

...thanks to JB & Stan for their long distance encouragement during the long drive & a few times in the field. Was also good to see my old friend Draftstud for dinner in Chama again this year.

It was a great hunt and I feel truly blessed by the entire experience.

Great job on a nice bull, good to hear you had a good hunt. It is nice to get some phone sex while your out there isn't it?

Seen some nice bulls coming from CO this year! Congrats on yours...
Love those Barnes Bullets

Congrats on the successful hunt...nice bull.

You have wayyyyy more patience than I do...I would have been walking around about 10 minutes after sun-up.
