I got back last night from a great deer hunt. My buddy and I spent five days looking for a bruiser, but didn't quite make it happen. We saw more game and fewer hunters than I think I've ever seen on public land, though. Every day we saw upwards of 100 deer, and only saw 3 other hunters out walking in five days. There were a few road warriors on their ATVs and in chained-up trucks, but our bucks were the only dead animals we saw during the hunt.
We saw my buck for the first time the evening before the hunt. We saw him again the first and second days, but passed on him. By the fourth afternoon he was looking a little better.
Doug killed a small buck on the last evening for meat. He passed on several nice deer, including a nice typical that would have scored around 180.
