Well I went out last night hoping the two day rain storm here in central Colorado would break and maybe I could finally get on an elk before the season slips away. Also figured that most of the city hunters wouldn't be out in this weather so maybe I could have some alone time..I was easing down a ridge cow calling every now and then. I decide it was time to use the bathroom. got done with my business and decided to try a little bugle action. So with my bow still on the ground I let loose..Immediately limbs start breaking coming up out of the draw less than 50 yards from me...HERE WE GO!!! snatch up my bow and before I could get an arrow from the quiver this guy is out of the bottom and around 20 yards...He stop behind a small pine at first so I nocked my arrow and he took a couple steps (thought he was blowing out) but he stopped again just to see if he wanted to eat me..drew back and let it fly..a tad high and a little back but the Rage 3 blade still took out both lungs just no blood...He went about 100 yards and piled up. Well needless to say the rain only picked up and with me being colorblind I never found any blood it took me about and hour to find him and decide I needed some help...Hours later we returned hauled him out and got some pics at the truck (sucks but need my camera for family stuff). My first bear and it was all pretty lucky how it went down..But that is why I bought my bear tag (plus I had seen a few and plenty of sign) Got done just in time to go to work...isn't hunting season great
