I'm new on this forum so I thought I'd post a quick story and picture of my buck from earlier this month. I've been accumulating points for both deer and elk in Colorado for quite awhile. I'm close to drawing an archery elk tag in one of the northwest units and decided to use my deer points up there to gain more knowledge of the area and of course hopefully kill a god buck. Many people feel that this unit has undergone a huge decline [for deer] the last few years, but I opted to give it a try.
I was pleasantly surprised with the number of deer I saw and shot this guy on the second morning. I debated with myself for a long time as I wanted to spend more time in the unit, but eventually decided I liked him enough to take him early and spend time after scouting the area for the future. I'm happy with this guy and can't wait to get after the elk up there with my bow.
