I drew a tag after applying for 12 years, have talked to the CDOW and Forest folks, but was wondering if anyone had any advice on the unit. I have been told not to shoot the first Bull I see.

Dangerous advise.

If you know a solid 320 bull when you see it and that is the first you see... "Bang!"

I agree with you, I'm probably not going to shoot a rag horn on the first day. But I won't pass up a nice bull waiting for a bigger one. Trying not to get caught up in the hype of the area, with everyone saying I'll see all sorts of Elk. I've got my plan and hope to stick with it even though the bears could mess me up, have been told there can be lots there also.

Bears are plentiful in there. Not sure what that has to do with a 12 pref point elk tag. Certainly would not divert from elk hunting there to tag a bear and lose that rime.
