What is considered a late season goat hunt in coastal Alaska or coastal BC as far as dates/time of year?

Other than billies having longer hair than early season, what are some things that are unique about "late season" vs "early season" or "winter hunt"?

TIA

It really depends on a backpack vs boat hunt. 2 completely different scenarios.

I can’t imagine hiking through the jungles along the coast trying to get in the alpine once snow starts accumulating.

If you are on a boat hunt it likely is good to have snow to bring Billie’s down from the alpine.

In southcentral AK, I would say early season goes August -late September, October is late season, November and later is winter.

For southeast AK, maybe shift everything back a couple weeks later. Tough to say because of local variations, and the wildly different elevations the goats will inhabit. 5000 feet will be a heck of a lot different than 500 feet elevation. In my experience, all goats need is steep terrain, they don’t really care how thin the air is.

I think late September/early October is a very good time to hunt goats. Nice hair and hopefully you won’t wish you brought the avalanche shovel LOL
