Well it's been a while since we hunted the December plains deer tag and I very quickly remembered why. While my wife enjoys going she enjoys the holiday festivities more. So out of the 14 day season we made it out 2 afternoons, with the last day of the season being the 2nd time. We hung around looking some spots over with a friend from mid morning until about 2 when She decided she wanted to head back to where we sat the 1st evening out. She gets a little flustered when on the move spot and stalking so she prefers the sit and wait. We made it to our spot about and hour before dark. We had a giant field to our backside and river bottom out in front with about a 250 yard opening in front of us and about a 300 yard shot to our left and right where deer frequently pop out on the field.

With about 20 minutes left of legal shooting time and us discussing dinner plans and the drive home I see a deer about 150 yards straight in front of us. How it got there is still unknown but he milled around long enough for my wife to get on him before he started moving. A little whistle stopped him in his tracks and the shot rang out clearly hitting him. We gave him a few minutes and headed over to where he was. It's been a few seasons since we've had one work out perfectly like it did. I look forward to hunting with her more than anything, even though it's not the "tough" style hunts I usually put myself thru.

This more than likely ended our season even tho I have Oklahoma tags still good thru January.
It was another great year
