Crucial.Bedded rings?
No idea. I read it on the long range, only forum, and found a few other articles. Sounds like it’s somewhat of a common practice, probably overkill for what I am doing. But, I had it apart, and it took about 15 minutes to do.Any benefit to bedded rings? mtmuley
Gonna run it by my smith when I deliver my parts. Interesting. mtmuleyNo idea. I read it on the long range, only forum, and found a few other articles. Sounds like it’s somewhat of a common practice, probably overkill for what I am doing. But, I had it apart, and it took about 15 minutes to do.
Maybe some, not going to hurt.Any benefit to bedded rings? mtmuley
Looking at all improvements for the ol 700. If I can improve on the accuracy I had before, it's a plus. mtmuleyMaybe some, not going to hurt.
I bed my scope bases to the action, then the bottom of the ring to the scope. The more mating surfaces there are, the more friction, and lesss likely to shift because of recoil.
I have no idea how much it actually helps, but it’s a pretty cheap and easy project to futz around with.
This was the primary reason I did it.more mating surfaces there are, the more friction, and lesss likely to shift because of recoil.

No brake. I like my stock. mtmuleyGame Warden - McMillan Stocks
The Game Warden shares the same streamline look and vertical pistol grip as the Game Scout, but it features a larger forend which allows it to accept large contour barrels up to a #8. It is an ambidextrous stock and can be inlet for right hand and left hand actions and is available with a fixed...mcmillanusa.com
And maybe a break.

Reason #1 why your tougher than I am…No brake. I like my stock. mtmuley
This is a bit of a budget refresh. Nothing that I don't need goes into it. Just a simple elk rifle. mtmuleyReason #1 why your tougher than I am…
The theory being that factory rings won’t mate perfectly to your scope? I’ve never even lapped my rings and never had an issue losing zero. Even on my magnums. Either I’m not OCD enough or…Maybe some, not going to hurt.

Ya, you definitely need more OCD!Either I’m not OCD enough or…
Kinda like a recoil lug. Maybe. mtmuleyYa, you definitely need more OCD!
Like I said, dunno if it really does anything or not, but it’s not going to make it worse.
Obviously not core AF.Clearly.
It’s one of the nine ancestral tenets.
