Changing Colors and Bugling Bulls

Postscript: Stats from my DIY Public Land Adventure

The resident who "sponsored" me for this hunt, also had a tag. While we were into elk every morning/evening, he never found one that was bigger than what he's already killed.

Total Miles Traveled: 1,037
Driving - 983
Horseback - 23
Hiking - 31

Total Cost (including all licenses and tags, fuel, food, horse rental, etc.) $3,647.04

Total Packaged Meat - 163 lbs
Cost Per Pound - $22.37

Without a doubt, it was worth every mile and every penny!

Nice bull for sure, way to get it done. Great monetary breakdown, should be an eye-opener for those that think they will save money by harvesting their own meat. The majority of the cost goes directly to the experience, and if you are not into the experience of seeing new country and all its flora and fauna, it can seem expensive.
