The cans were on the Upper Mississippi. The redheads were inland WI on a pothole.

We get huge rafts of them in The Mackinaw Straits late in the season. Someone going across the bridge thought the raft of ducks was an oil spill and reported it! A tunnel across the straits has been in the works for a few years and is a very contentious issue.
