great state of Idaho....
A corn field by my house finally has corn in it again, and some new bird showed up so they were looking for a field, so I went out and put some decoys up and ended up getting three geese. 2 cacklers were the first to be talked into committing. I shot a limit of ducks the day before, I put one the greenheads next to one of the cacklers so you can see how small they are.

Very nice! I will take a green head over a goose any day. Better table fare for sure. Goose is pretty good for pepper sticks though.

Haha cacklers are a hoot. Almost all we got down in TX. When my friends came up to hunt last year they were freaking out over the number of "D8s" flying around. Nice birds.

Very nice!! I really should put the effort in to learning how to hunt those things.

Nice bunch of birds. I've shot a couple of Canadas just slightly bigger than mallards, wasn't sure if they were Cacklers, Richardson's, or something else, guess it doesn't really matter.

In NM I'd guess Richardsons, commonly just referred to as lessers, like the geese pictured above. The birds that started this thread are part of a grouping of small race Canada's referred to as cacklers, they are not true cacklers or "cackling Canada geese."

I really wish we had more dry land feeding on the east coast. Geese where I'm at is nothing more than a bonus while duck hunting outside of early season golf course geese. Nice hunt!
