I had taken in 8 lbs of dry ice three days earlier with me, and there was plenty left to start cooling down the meat in a large cooler. Later, we drove into town to get some block ice.

Super smart move. I think antelope taste is more sensitive to heat than any other venison. You should have some fantastic eating there.

I first drew Calif Antelope back in 1987 then drew again about 10-12 years ago. The good news is that the "Max Point" pool for lopes is getting very small and it won't be long to where, there's always the random tags, less than max points will be drawing the majority of these tags again. I've seen some monsters out there and hope to hunt Cali lopes at least one more time.

Congrats on a very nice buck. I agree California is not a state I would associate with antelope hunting.
