I know this can't be this hard to get a calf into a pen to get ringed  I think I might need to use a rope today hump and hope I don't hurt him...

Just hold the little bugger down, put a slit along the sack, pull out the offending pendage and cut it off....
Then repeat the process for the other side, should take all but about a minute or so at the very longest.. ;)

Or you just parcticing for the big event... :D:D:D

Well,,,day two and still no steer :MAD We had them in a temporary pen gatting ready to seperate them, then the damn mama cow went through the temp. fence :BLEEP: angus cows :BLEEP: ....

Note to self: Just remember in just 18 short months I won't have to feed them :D I'll be eaten them

I'm going to have Orca Lover check with on of the neibors and see if she knows of any wranglers to through a rope on her :MAD I'm getting tired of the chit..If it wasn't for having to bottle feed him I'd put a bullet in that damn angus :MAD

How big of a bull calf is it? Do you own a rope? Rope the calf and then tie it down by tying three legs together. Once the calf is immobilized then it is time for it to lose its family jewels.

Cut off the end of the scrotum or ball sack for cowboys. Get ahold of the nuts and pull them out. The calf will strain but pull until you feel the cords come a little loose and then seperate them. There will be two cords on each nut; pull the red cord (blood vessels) and clip the white cord. Repeat on other nut. result one steer calf.

Making the bull into a steer is not the problem..Thats the easy part...Its getting the calf away from the cow....I don't have a barn, or holding pen( the mama cow aleady went through it) The bad part about this is the calf is only 2 weeks old today..This little sucker is realy making me look like a twit |oo no make that a 'tard

LOL Tony... :)
I helped a guy in Monroe a couple years ago with his Cow problem, same as yours...
I put a rope around its neck and a half hitch across its snout, she pulled pretty hard, but couldn't pull the rope in half, she almost suffocated herself, but while she was getting herself all tired out, and I was handling the rope, (rope went around a tree) he took care of the little feller...
Sorry I can't be there to help on that, or to lend some of my good tree rope to make it easier..

Damn I am crossing my legs just reading this post..
the bad part is I have done this many times on my friends ranch and it didnt bother me.....
just something about april saying she will kill me or WORSE if we have more kids.. I am thinking this could be the worse part.
