its not just that city. Very few "nice towns" in NM from my experience. Its honestly pretty sad.

It is because of the soft on crime liberal politicians in New Mexico. Even if they catch the thieves they will be out stealing again in no time and they know it! I hear all the time of criminals committing another crime while out on bond awaiting a trial for a different serious crime like murder…… Life in a liberal democrat state.
