My brother and his son are headed up to Bozeman from July 23-27 to visit Montana State University and do some fishing. Can you Bozeman guys recommend some places to eat, things to do, etc. They are planning on fishing every day and may do a float trip if anyone can recommend a good guide. What rivers would you recommend in late July? Wish I was going! Thanks

All the rivers are good at that time. Some might be too low. Probably prime time on the Yellowstone, depending upon flows. Madison is always good, in some stretch of water, but the crowds usually follow the bite on the Madison.

If they want a guide, River's Edge is the place to contact. - http://www.theriversedge.com/

I'm not your guy for eats, but DQ is on 7th Ave. just north of Main St.

Naked noodle for the goucho with Korean beef, ale works for meatloaf and parmesan fries(get the artichoke dip to), and zydico for jambalaya with extra bread. I like hiking north of town in the bridgers and south around the reservoir. Don't know the water quality this year, I'm sure that info will get posted shortly. Walking around on main is fun for a bit, the museum is just ok, there used to be a small comedy show once a week. Have fun, it's beautiful there. Oh, I just saw that mt fish company now has a lunch bar if you like quality fish. Also, the garage has really good sandwiches and killer clam chowder. Man, I should move back to bozeman...

Get a burger from burger bobs. Try some pizza from buffalo bump or taraninos pizza.

It's worth it to go over to Livingston at try the rib and chop house for dinner or lunch. Make sure they go to mystery ranch and the Simms manufacturing facilities.

My son works at Old Chicago and says the food is good. He also has been doing well fishing the Madison (although he comes from a long line of hardware chuckers):)

The Hyalite area has some very nice hikes to burn a half-day. Mount Blackmore, Hyalite Peak or Emerald Lake if you want to catch a bunch of 6" grayling. Hiking closer to the park you can get into the Gallatin petrified forest which is dang cool.

Museum of the Rockies is also worth a visit if you believe in dinosaurs.

Main Street over easy is good for breakfast, as is Clark's fork. "The big easy" sandwich at cafe zydeco is one of my all time favorites. They have fancy French doughnuts on Saturdays too.

I got two degrees from MSU, and I had a very positive experience there.

Any river, large or small. Korner Klub, Western Cafe, Cateye, Soby's,- Mark Macleod, 406-587-4114 for fishing. Knows his fish, a nice guy , and a former co-worker of mine.

I am working on a construction site next door to a dog grooming business.in Bozeman.Popular spot it appears for the Bozeman lap dog crowd.Drop your pooch off and walk across the street to The Wild Crumb bakery to meet all of Bozeman.:D
