Trump doesn't give two shits about the national debt. Want proof, look at his first term. He ran up a bunch of it, even allowing for covid.

He and the GOP did get some tax cuts passed, that benefited the upper end of earners the most. It was passed with the tired promise that the cuts would unleash economic growth, large enough to cover the tax cuts. If memory serves serves, they said it would translate into ~4k/family, in income gains. Two things resulted, the deficits ballooned, and wealthy people got significant tax relief.

All of this chaos with DOGE and the tariffs, is cover to make the expiring tax cuts permanent, little else. It was great to hear that Trump won a golf tournament this past weekend.

Can you expand on this?
Tax laws and allocation system is complex and considered to be unfair (wrong) in that you and I, along with most honest citizens, routinely pay taxes and file our tax returns each spring to the best of our knowledge and with intent to pay our "fair share". However, many entities with exorbitant incomes and crafty tax accountants and lawyers actually pay very little or even zero taxes on the financial benefits received. Potential taxation from eliminating many of the "loopholes" would go a long way to balance the fiscal scales more fairly.

This is sort of incorrect.

Rich friends i know in MT had their taxes INCREASE because they were no longer able to deduct state income tax - and the higher std deductions makes it harder to justify itemizing.

That was mostly offset for folks in higher tax brackets by an overall reduction in the top rates. In my personal situation, my taxes under Trump went down $30k/yr despite losing a lot of deductions. I’d give every penny of it back to not have him running our country.

Kamala would have been better huh?

This isn't about better. The majority decided they didn't agree with the previous direction and wanted to go a different direction. We'll see if they were right in a few years.

Until then try to survive like many had to the last 4 years.

Right, it was pretty tough to take all those years of 20%+ returns in the market.

It was terrifying having to watch your investments suffer that kind of positive growth.

Stock market sucks last few days no doubt, for who long who knows. Most people don't live and die by the stock market as far as how they cast they're vote.

Not far from me as a young Montanan returning from Vietnam, proudly walking through SEATAC Airport in TW uniform with shiny badges, only to get spit on by a sign carrying protester. I developed a disdain for protests.
But this Bozeman one was different. It was positive, polite, thoughtful and strongly felt in a patriotic way by those attending.
Gratitude for your service and sacrifice, the reaction you described to so many returning vets was appalling. No justifying it. There was a different kind of war going on stateside, that was not made known to deployed military. The bitterness of that war impacted far more Americans than those who served, and changed history. That war is what ended the Vietnam 'conflict.'

I would jump for joy to repeat the last 4 years. We'd be all set and more in retirement and be able to do more than we ever imagined. Now I dont know if I can afford to or should retire. I sure don't see anything changing for months but I do expect change. Even rats start to jump off a sinking ship.
