I heard a report saying that when the people arrives they were given signs and sheets with the answers to talking points unit saying that they were paid to be there. I wouldn't be surprised if some were paid, but that's not my point. Someone paid to have those signs and printed material ready in advance, and on sight.
Probably laid off federal employees!

I remember when I was a kid, how they were protesting the war in Viet Nam, and how far that was away from me.

So Saturday they were protesting something else in Bozeman.

I believe I was doing the same thing as a kid and this past Saturday, shooting gophers…

Easily offended much? Well, since we're making assumptions, I'll try it out.

(Deleted)

Reread my post and try not to be so easily offended. It was a legit question. I get it. You're getting older and your eyes and ability to understand are dwindling, but come on.

I'm not offended, and I think my post hits the nail on the head, pretty well.

If musk trump are stopped and can't shrink the federal government then selling public is the only option. The days of printing must end or the dollar will become worthless. I fail to see what solutions to the debt the protesters are suggesting. If public lands are sold its only a temporarily postponement of addressing the spending problem. At least trump is trying to do something.

Selling your grandpas prized pump 22 for 200 dollars when you just had lobster for dinner. But go off.

Good lord….🙄

Not far from me as a young Montanan returning from Vietnam, proudly walking through SEATAC Airport in TW uniform with shiny badges, only to get spit on by a sign carrying protester. I developed a disdain for protests.
But this Bozeman one was different. It was positive, polite, thoughtful and strongly felt in a patriotic way by those attending.

I have been out of the loop for a week- what was the protest actually about?

I have seen Ukraine, Doge, circumcision, LGBTQ, AK47s and several other subjects on this thread.

Was it just a protest for protesting sake?

Yes he is. However, a great many of this world consider DOGE as a drastic and harmful wrong way to address the fiscal problems. The money cuts are relatively small and will be later restored exponentially in order to put back into place many critical professionals, organizations, programs, and services which were there as developed and structured by Congress to fulfill real life critical needs at the federal governmental level.
As a Veteran who realizes the need for national security and for a strong viable military, always evolving, it is clear that's a place with huge fiscal saving potential ... but that's a risk most of us don't want to take.
There is already enough money generated by many entities in this nation who spend it on lavish, self aggrandizing fraud, waste, and abuse. The US tax system imposes heavy taxes on the WRONG citizens and organizations.

Read the thread from the beginning. I attempted to sum it up in post #52.
There really was little to nil LGBTQ related stuff. There was nothing about firearms or 2A or about circumcision (other than the isolated dubious reference in one post).

Look at the Hands Off website to see the goals. Note: some weren’t paying attention to the goals of the organizers. In that case, the participants did whatever because they wanted to protest. I think they thought they were doing something positive, but probably just against the party in power.

However, not much will be changed because of their protest. November 2026 is the next time to make a change. Just my opinion.

We’ll see.

How much of the 31 trillion national debt will be paid off by selling 2 trillion worth of public land?

Decrease government spending. Check
Stop deficit spending and printing money. Check
Stop allowing multinational corporations from evading taxes on profits made in America by overseas banking. Check

Lots of other options for paying down debt. Selling the national inheritance of those still in in the womb of time. No way.

I can only speak to what I heard about out state protests--and saw in pictures.

LOTS of people there with protest signs against cuts at the VA and Trumps treatment of veterans.

One vet--and he sure is a die hard conservative--told me last week that he worries Trump will use the military to deal with his personal grudges.

Thanks guys. It was a good faith question, our local newspaper had an article about it and around here it seemed a bit disjointed.

The day I got back I declined a promotion to Ensign and walked into a Vietnam Veterans Against the War protest in SF.
I got spit on.

No one that has spit on me since has stood long.

The 51/50 regime is a disgrace.
I swore the Oath 4 times in my life. I never unswore it.

Re: the national debt, people think of spending.

Some people think about the give backs (heard that like he did in his first administration, Trump is preparing to hand huge amounts of cash to farmers again, who are getting killed by his tariffs and closing off of markets due to cuts).

They both add some to the debt--esp. the give backs as their impact is so short and temporary but the impact on the debt is permanent.

But it always surprised me how people I assume can balance their own checkbook at home never thing about the easiest thing--tax cuts--and their impact on the debt. Perhaps because invididually it doesn't seem like much--but you need to multiply that by the hundreds of millions of folks subject to them.

The irony is that folks that scream about the national debt--and I agree they have a real point--tend to be the strongest supporters of Trump. Nearly everything he is doing is the exact OPPOSITE of what's needed to reduce the national debt.

Hamilton Rally

So this was the Rally I attended. Not "disjointed" at all, everyone's on the same page. Trumps rule is wrong headed on many fronts.

Just a note to the conspiracy Soros theorists. Most of the signs were made by the marchers at their own homes.

The only spontaneity came from Trumpsters that raced by flipping the bird, and a guy that yell out his window, Fauci lied, Fauci lied. Not sure if one sign was there in support of Fauci or not.
