Im heading to Bozeman on Saturday for a week. I was just wondering if the rivers, due to a week of warm temps, will be blown out from snow melt? My connections out there are all out of town for the week and don't know the conditions. Thank you in advanced!

The Lower Madison is a tailwater and should be clear enough to fish. It might not be gin clear, but should have enough to be worth fishing it... If I were in your shoes I'd call The River's Edge fly shop or The Bozeman Angler. Either one ought to have the skinny on where clarity is at.

Literally just talked to a guide this morning before I came on here. He didn't think anything is really blown out yet, still cold enough at night. Lower Madison is tailwater, as mentioned. Should be okay as long as you are above Cherry Creek. Upper Madison below Hebgen but above Cabin Creek should be good too. You probably have to post hole to get to the river through the snow.

While I can't attest to that area's water, they are certainly on the rise here in Missoula area. Significant level raise. Not "blown out" yet, but I think in the next week they will begin to be that way.

The Madison at Ennis is clear this morning. They had a big snow melt a few weeks back that melted everything in the valley.

Thank you folks for the info. Im deciding to not tocheck the extra bag of fishing gear and just save the dang baggage fees. The weather predictors are talking rain and snow several days next week on top of warm temps. I guess I will just scout some areas for elk and deer this fall.

A good friend has been fishing the Madison the last couple days. Fishing has been a bit slow and the wind has been pretty brutal. He had no complaints since he's fishing and I'm not
