Blending powders

I blend gun powder all the time, as long as they have been manufactured in a short timeperiod of each-other. Plus, it saves space.

This guy. You can tell he’s a jackass because of how he spikes the case. Trying to look cool…

Solid throwback, hadn't seen that in a minute. Wonder how close you could get a Model 70 action or similar to doing that with a mid sized case like the .308 family. Anyone got data on that? Guessing it'd be tough

First, I am not advocating this, nor do I ever plan on doing it. I read on another site a handloader claiming gains in efficiency by blending. Can't post the link but will via PM. I hope a guy from Eastern Montana with a shit ton of loading and shooting experience will respond. Doesn't seem like a good idea. mtmuley
Never ever....

If you step back and think about it, Hodgdon's Hybrid 100V is a blended powder.
It has both stick and ball powders in it.

When A-Square was working with the .700 Nitro they had a hang fire situation until they used a few grains of I believe Bullseye underneath the main charge of slower burning powder. not exactly blending, but...

I couldn't even imagine pulling the trigger and then having to wait for the thing to go off.

No it is not.
"Hybrid 100V is the result of combining the technologies of spherical powders and extruded propellants. The chemistry of a spherical powder is combined with the geometry of an extruded propellant, creating a smooth-metering, super-short granule, extruded, shaped propellant with high energy."

Combining the technologies to create a new powder is not combining spherical and extruded as a blended powder.

BTW H100V is bad a$$ in .270Win with 140gr bullets. Even better with 141HHT in my .270 Thors Hammer (fast twist .279Win with 0.290 freebore). Still in final ladder but expect over 3400.

Very under rated and under utilized powder. 300WSM 180 weight bullets secret sauce too.
