Binos that work with glasses

Worn glasses all my adult life and never had any problems, coming up to fifty five yrs of hunting.

I have found most binos work fine with glasses on and eyecup twisted in. Nothing particularly unique.

Sounded like OP want better binos regardless of wearing glasses but wants to be sure a new set works will with glasses, and if so it is just a matter of budget and go test the options in that range.

What is the buying budget?

You are correct, I’d like to upgrade from my vortex crossfire HD to something better, but if I’m plunking down the cash, I’d like them to work better for my eyes as well.

I’d say max budget in the $500 range, but would like stay under $400. Maven is one manufacturer I’ve been very interested in, so budget is flexible for the right product.

Those are pretty rad, but there’s absolutely no way I can justify spending $900+ on binos.

A buddy of mine went through the trial and error with this and he may chime in. He looked at quite a few different pairs and as I remember not all were created equal on eye relief. In the end a couple of pairs seemed to do better with his glasses. I think they were the Zeiss Conquest HDs and Leica Ultravids. If you look around you can probably find a deal on the Conquests. I have a pair in 8x42 for hunting the big timber in MN, and love them.

Give the Leupold BX4 a look. They were a big improvement over my vortex diamondbacks.

I bet @schmalts can still get a good deal on those.

Hmmm, that’s good to know. Trouble is I don’t think 8x will cut it. Sometimes I feel like 10x is even a little low for the level of detail I’m trying to pick out. I like the Maven C.3, as it has a 19.5mm eye relief, which is the longest I’ve found yet for some decent glass…and it’s in my budget range. Any experience with those?

For me it came down to how much I use my binos, which is A LOT.
So I spent heavily given how central quality glass was to my overall experience.

$500 get you OK glass but if you use binos a ton do yourself a favor and test better and more costly binos side by side to help choose.

Good freaking luck on binos with glasses. I had glasses for 1 hunting season and that was all it took to get lasik. I'm too much of a pussy about touching my eyes to deal with contacts so that was out of the question.

I've always had to run my eye cups all the way in to get optimal performance from binos, I cant see how it would be possible to ever be close with glasses.

I've switched to using 8x42 binoculars because I've found they work much better for me while wearing my glasses. It's just too much of a hassle to take my glasses off every time I want to look through my binoculars, which is what I always did when using 10x binoculars.

Wait a year if necessary and double your budget by saving up. Will be happy for long term.

That's interesting. I wear glasses and mainly use my vortex 10x50s.

It's not been a problem that's stood out enough for me to change glass though I'll give my 8x42s another try for comparison, now that you mention that.

Hey All,

Well, the seasons pretty much wrapped up and after using the equipment I’ve got for a few years some things are due for an upgrade, binos being one of them.

My issue is that I wear eye glasses, and I have yet to find a set binos that gives a proper sight picture with them on. This means I either have to have an extremely limited field of view due to my eyes being too far away from the lenses, or I have to take off the glasses in which case nothing I look at is in focus. I know I can’t be the only one who has this problem, and I’m hoping someone here knows of some models that work for us four-eyed folk.

For my needs, I’m looking in the 10-12x range. TIA for any recommendations!

if you're shooting long range, taking off your glasses isn't bad. But I glass either way.

I wear glasses. I adjust my scopes and binos to my eyes without them. I wear a strap(croakie) on my glasses and just drop the glasses when I am glassing or shooting. That said, before I did this I just turned the eyecups down on my ELs.
I never had any issues looking through my ELs with my glasses on.

I wear glasses daily, I just can’t stick my finger in my eye, so contacts are a no go.

I’ve glasses with my NL purrs with both glasses on, and glasses off. I find if I’m sitting and doing an extended glassing session, off a tripod etc, I take my glasses off. If I’m just walking and doing quick checks with my binos I screw my eye cups all the way down and wear my glasses.

Not ideal in either case, but until I get lasik I just have to live with it.

I cant put contacts in either. My eyelid slam shut at 10,000 psi. I tried for a month to use contacts. Just didnt work out.
