Binos that work with glasses

Hey All,

Well, the seasons pretty much wrapped up and after using the equipment I’ve got for a few years some things are due for an upgrade, binos being one of them.

My issue is that I wear eye glasses, and I have yet to find a set binos that gives a proper sight picture with them on. This means I either have to have an extremely limited field of view due to my eyes being too far away from the lenses, or I have to take off the glasses in which case nothing I look at is in focus. I know I can’t be the only one who has this problem, and I’m hoping someone here knows of some models that work for us four-eyed folk.

For my needs, I’m looking in the 10-12x range. TIA for any recommendations!

I wear glasses and move them up when looking through my binoculars. Always able to get them to focus for me. I'm far-sighted if it matters.

That would be almost a pita as taking them off. I hope Fairweather gets a good suggestion. I'm in the same canoe.
I have some Vortex that have twist back eyecups but their not that great.

I've used the Vortex UHD 10X42 binos with glasses with good success. I'm near sighted and I don't twist the eye cups out at all.

For a quick scan I have no trouble with my Meoptas with glasses on and the eye cups down.

For a legitimate glassing session I take my glasses off and extend the eye cups. My prescription is fairly modest though.

I just adjust my binoculars to be crisp without my glasses on and bump my glasses up onto my forehead to look. Not ideal, but it seems to work for the most part. I'll be interested to hear if anyone drops any comments about an alternative.

NGL, I’ve very seriously considered getting lasik to get out of this pickle…but I like having the added eye protection of wearing glasses. I’ve had too many sharp tree branches come scarily close to my eyes while hunting dense reprod to give it up. That, and someone slicing into my eye and hoping they don’t mess it up this time takes more trust than I have in doctors.

That was the recommendation of our Ex- Portland friend. If you're a good candidate for lasik it's probably the simplest solution.

I think it’s not my bravery. My tolerance curve for dealing with this crap has shifted. Something in my eye chemistry has changed in the last 3-4 years and there is no longer a brand or material of contact lense that stays rotational centered on my eyes and thereby corrects well. Nothing is comfortable anymore either. Outdoor pursuits of all types have this big thorn in my ass due to my eyes.

I’ve tried hunting with my glasses on instead… I’d damn near rather stay home.

It is time for me. I sure hope it goes well too.

I have no problem looking through my Maven B1.2 10x42 with glasses on. Just need to rotate the eyecups all the way in.

my maven c1 10x42 were fine w glasses on...more comfortable with glasses off, but I've done multiple glassing-intensive hunts with them (NM mule deer, AK caribou) while exclusively wearing my glasses. Rotate the eye cups all the way in for proper eye relief.

Upgraded to swaro els last season and same...used with and without glasses, just need to adjust eye relief w the eye cups.

Was in the same boat. Wore contacts for near 30 years but around 11 years ago, something happened with my eyes and every pair I tried irritated my eyes. Couldn't stand glasses for every day wear, especially hunting, so in early 2015, had lasik. Still to this day probably the best money I feel I've ever spent and only wish I'd have done it sooner. If you're a good candidate, it'll be awesome. Good luck!

Wife with glasses has no issues with my Tract Torics. Fwiw, you can buy from Amazon and return if they don’t work for you. Tract is only available direct to consumer.

I wear glasses daily, I just can’t stick my finger in my eye, so contacts are a no go.

I’ve glasses with my NL purrs with both glasses on, and glasses off. I find if I’m sitting and doing an extended glassing session, off a tripod etc, I take my glasses off. If I’m just walking and doing quick checks with my binos I screw my eye cups all the way down and wear my glasses.

Not ideal in either case, but until I get lasik I just have to live with it.

I have found most binos work fine with glasses on and eyecup twisted in. Nothing particularly unique.

Sounded like OP want better binos regardless of wearing glasses but wants to be sure a new set works will with glasses, and if so it is just a matter of budget and go test the options in that range.

What is the buying budget?

Now that my kiddos are a little older and not having such frequent doctor visits and not completely draining my HSA, I'm eyeing () Lasik soon.
I got contacts just a few years ago and planned on just going straight to Lasik and did the consultation and have a standing referral, but figured I'd try contacts for a couple years to make sure my eyes weren't changing still. Eyes aren't changing. Hopefully will be lazered in a year or so.
