“Big 3” all from your home state

I’d be happy to just draw one tag for the big 3 here in MT.

The closest I’ve come is almost having to shoot charging grizzly bears twice while archery hunting. Not the way I would want to get it done.

I have been lucky enough to have drawn and harvested an Arizona Desert ram and an Arizona Rocky Mtn ram. No moose or goat here. I'm still working on a AZ bison. FWIW, I did draw and harvest a non resident Colorado Rocky too. Maybe that counts for three. GJ

I'm shooting for 3 species of elk from my home state. I think I can live long enough to draw them all... I've got the Tule, and I'm applying for Roosevelt next.

If Deer are your thing we have 6 subspecies of deer in state

But sadly we only have Desert Sheep. No Moose or Mountain Goats.

My dad has pulled off the big 3, moose and sheep both within 20 miles of his house in the same year. Goat a few years after, he applied unsuccessfully for around 40 years. I have goat and moose but still waiting for the sheep tag.

You guys all suck. At the rate I'm going I'll be 157 years old by the time I get the chance to even hunt all 3. Me and my whole family is 0 for whatever in drawing any of these tags. Born and raised resident.

Sometimes it’s faster to just shoot the animal, then send FWP the money. You may want to be sure to send cash, and no return address.

I really like that goat...
Me too. My son and I were looking for that one in September that year (2019) but he was impatient and ended up shooting another one 5 minutes into the season.

We'll my state only has the "Big 1", which I've never drawn and probably never will. But I have been lucky enough to shoot 5 specimens of the Big 3 in other western states; Bighorn-WY, Mtn Goat-MT, Moose-MT,WY,CO. Just waiting on my Montana sheep tag to complete the Big 3 there 😃, I'll happily drive the 1000 miles.

I have been lucky enough to harvest the Big 3 in Colorado and have actually done it 2x if you count females of the species for moose. My closest Big 3 was mt goat @ 28 miles from the house. My archery bull moose was 46 miles and my archery bighorn was 55 miles for a total of 129 miles as the crow flies.

I'm 2/3 of the way there on my 3rd Big 3 with a sheep towards Big 3 #4 if you count females and would have had a female Big 3 but didn't fill my nanny tag this year.

I have 1/3 of the big 3 twice. Two moose. Should draw a sheep within the next few years. Who knows about goat.

Started applying in the early 80's (MT) drew square butte mountain goat in 94, breaks sheep in 95 and Libby moose in 97 and nothing since. Not complaining, but in the 40 years of applying the tags could have been spread out a little more. LOL
