Best upland gun dog breed?

I would assume we’re in late season chukar now. My dog pointed and held chukar at 393 on Wednesday. Second setter backed a few minutes later. At a minimum, it took us ten minutes to get to the dogs over chukar country. 40+ bird covey held and flushed as we approached. One bird killed. My gun jammed after my first shot. Buddy said he flock shot.😀

Birds were holding for our dogs. They were outsmarting us a little by flushing at the edge of shotgun range. We’ll try to adjust our approaches tomorrow to pin the birds better between the dogs and the guns.

She held that point for so long I thought she was going to pass out. She growled at me when I missed it. Second pic was a few years ago. Dogs are about 20 feet from the pickup, ditch is full of grass and cat tails just out of sight. About 20 roosters got up when somebody slammed the door.
